After a good
night's sleep, I feel well rested enough to tackle the
dissection of airdisc's encryptic post. As you will see, in
the end airdisc's message is one of hope...something both
tangible and intangible...something I like to call
airdiscosityness™. A mix of the absurd and the sublime. Let's
begin at the beginning, shall we?
quote:
Hiya guys!
Much like the humble beginnings of airdisc
himself, he brings forth to his first address a simplicity all
it's own. In essence: Would it really be such a good idea to
go up and cold cock that guy who made fun of the snot on your
sleeve when you had the flu in in the winter of '91? airdisc's
suggestion here is that it might be better to greet him warmly
and imagine his daily activities until a moment could be found
where you could whack him with a shopping cart into an
oncoming bus with as few witnesses as possible.
quote:
Thanks for the big welcome thread.
Here, you'll note airdisc's usage of the
adjective "big". I never said I was some fancy pants
etymologist, asshole, so I looked up the origins of the word
online and came up with this:
Middle English,
perhaps of Scandinavian origin; akin to Norwegian dialect
bugge - important man. Date: 14th
century
"Bugge", eh? Could this be a reference to
the slang term "bugger" as in "to buttsex"? Clearly there is
no room for sexual orientation discrimination in airdisc's
world view. His take: everybody and everything is fair
game...your local notary, the countertop, Libertarians, the
squirrel that hangs outside your window in the tree making
KEKEKEKEKE noises...
quote:
Why do you guys love me so much?
I'll just address this with a quote...
"Why do birds --SUDDENLY APPEAR, everytime -- YOU ARE
NEAR? Just like me, they WANT TO BE, CLOSE to you..." --
William Shatner
quote:
I'm not that special?
This odd sounding sentence sums up
airdisc's message. His questioning of himself, digging deep to
ask if he is "special" is akin to "staring into the abyss" as
Keanu Reeves once said in some movie I forget. airdisc
suggests that the Everyman should ask this of himself, and
that the answer that echos back be your raison d'etre, french
for "raisin in the summer", which means that you should never
put off what you should do today. Because it'll be winter soon
and you could come down with the flu and you might not be able
to afford medicine for your runny nose.
